As the Lunar New Year approaches, appreciate Chinese culture through the practice of calligraphy. Where does the appeal of calligraphy lie? Why do we write auspicious characters for the New Year? With a brush, paper, and a touch of ink, we slowly experience this pure and enduring art.
What to expect:
Participants will learn basic calligraphy techniques, be introduced to traditional tools and Clerical Script (Lishu), and practise writing basic strokes and the character “Fu” (福). Each participant will take home a completed 17 × 17 cm red cardstock artwork. A finished piece perfect for home display this Chinese New Year.
Led by Guest Calligrapher Chew Chai Ying 周彩莹老师 who joins us at Well Played for this Lunar New Year Special pop-up event.
